Transport Scotland has commissioned consultants to undertake a Detailed Evaluation of the Forth Replacement Crossing (FRC) Project, this includes the Queensferry Crossing and the development and upgrade of connecting routes either side of the new bridge. The scope of the Evaluation is to assess the longer term impact of the FRC Project against its objectives and operational indicators, as well as the impact of the Project on public transport provision and patronage pre and post scheme, including use of both Halbeath and Ferrytoll Park and Rides.

There was an initial 1 Year-After Evaluation published in 2020 and this Detailed Evaluation is building on this work to provide insight on the longer term impacts of the FRC Project, especially the post-Covid period. The Evaluation Plan sets out a number of indicators and data sources required to make an assessment of operational performance such as traffic volumes, journey times, vehicle speeds and journey time reliability alongside an assessment of environmental impacts and wider socioeconomic benefits.

A key component of the Evaluation is to understand the wider socioeconomic benefits, specifically the impact on local businesses and local communities. For this the Project consultants are reaching out to a number of businesses, community groups and stakeholders to gather their views on the impact of the FRC Project.
